What we can’t take, and who can
the short list
If it’s legal for us to haul, we take it
Almost everything a house, a yard or a job site produces goes in our trailer. The few things below do not, because hauling them without the right licence is illegal, dangerous or both, and we are not going to pretend otherwise to win a job.
What we will do is tell you exactly where each one should go instead. That call is free, and several of these are free to drop off if you live in Winnipeg.
Paint
Why we can’t: Liquid paint, stains and solvents are household hazardous waste.
Where it goes: A 4R Winnipeg Depot takes them free for Winnipeg residents. Fully dried-out latex paint cans are a different case, so ask us.

Propane tank
Why we can’t: Pressurized cylinders can rupture in a loaded trailer.
Where it goes: Swap it at a propane exchange, or take it to a 4R Winnipeg Depot.

Asbestos
Why we can’t: Removing or hauling it without licensing is illegal and genuinely dangerous.
Where it goes: Have suspect material tested first, then use a licensed abatement contractor. We are glad to haul everything else once it is cleared.

Chemicals
Why we can’t: Pesticides, pool chemicals and cleaners are household hazardous waste.
Where it goes: A 4R Winnipeg Depot takes them free for Winnipeg residents.

Motor oil
Why we can’t: Fuel, oil and antifreeze are hazardous and flammable.
Where it goes: A 4R Winnipeg Depot takes them free for Winnipeg residents.

Medical waste
Why we can’t: Sharps and biohazard waste need controlled handling.
Where it goes: Most pharmacies take back sharps containers and unused medication.

Ammunition
Why we can’t: Ammunition, fireworks and explosives cannot go in a trailer.
Where it goes: Call the Winnipeg Police Service non-emergency line and ask about safe disposal.

Vehicles
Why we can’t: A vehicle needs its fluids handled and its ownership transferred properly.
Where it goes: Use a licensed auto recycler. We take car parts, tires and intact batteries.

The 4R Winnipeg Depots
The City runs three 4R Winnipeg Depots for residents. What each one accepts differs, and hours change with the season:
- Brady — 1825 Brady Road
- Pacific — 1120 Pacific Avenue (closed Wednesdays)
- Panet — 429 Panet Road (closed Wednesdays)

Working fridge or freezer? Don’t pay us to take it.
If it still runs, Efficiency Manitoba will pick it up from your home for free and pay you a $30 rebate. We can’t beat that, so take it. If it has stopped working, that is where we come in.
